Support Us

Friends of the Jan Pietersz. Huis feel bound to the fate of music students in Amsterdam. They play an important role in enabling the purchase of housing as well as the adaptation thereof. Thanks to their support the number of rooms for students and young musicians has in the meantime grown to some 350.

Nevertheless we still face a waiting list of around 200 students who are urgently looking for appropriate housing in Amsterdam. For that reason we desperately need new Friends who will support us financially to acquire and insulate new buildings.

About us

The association

The Association of Friends of the Jan Pietersz. Huis was founded on June 19, 1981 with the statutory objective “to promote the housing of music students in Amsterdam, more specifically by providing support to the foundation established in Amsterdam: Jan Pietersz. Huis Foundation”. The Association primarily implements this objective by seeking funds through memberships, donations and bequests. The Associations has enabled important investments by the Foundation such as –most recently- the insulation of 63 rooms at the Jaap Speijerstraat (2010) and the insulation of 97 rooms at the Leo Hornstraat (2014).
The Association of Friends of the Jan Pietersz. Huis has the special status of ‘Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling (ANBI)’ under Dutch fiscal law. This means that for Dutch tax residents contributions and gifts are deductible of their income tax or corporate income tax for companies. The Associations is also tax exempt for any gifts it receives. Thus your contribution will be entirely used for the objectives of the Association.

The Association publishes an annual newsletter. Every year we try to combine the annual members’ meeting with a concert of (former) students of the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
